Allen Shiu, lovingly known by his colleagues as the VAD Guy, is the Ventricular Assist Device Educator for the Stanford Children’s Heart Center.  Prior to his current role, Allen was a CVICU nurse for over ten years at Stanford Children’s Health and has vast experience caring for patients on mechanical circulatory support.  His passion and interests include sharing knowledge with others, eating good food, going to Disneyland with his wife and four teenaged daughters, and weight training.  His goal this year is to develop digital educational content that can be shared with pediatric VAD centers across the nation and to achieve a 405 pound bench press.
